What we are about

It seems like almost every singe day someone asks what we are about -  or why are we doing what we are doing.   So - let me try to explain it again

We are about Jackson Square and Grove Center -  the HISTORIC CORE of Oak Ridge -

We are about

• an effort to revitalize these two historic centers
• working with the property owners in these centers to improve their properties and bringing new speciality retail and restaurants to the historic core
• bringing together a group of corporate leaders and like minded citizens together to improve the historic core
• bringing members of city council, city staff, other civic groups and organizations such as the ORCC, ORCVB, ORHPA together with ORRE to identify our common goals and visions and move forward at a steady pace to accomplish those goals as they relate to the historic core
• identify a group of existing homeowners who are willing to improve their properties both aesthetically and environmentally
• encourage local lending institutions to establish a low interest loan pool to assist these willing homeowners
• to develop a series of events in each center that provide an opportunity for citizens to gather as a community

Some people say that we are trying to do to much.   We don't feel this way at all.  Simply stated we see the light at the end of the tunnel and we are moving toward that light.   We don't need a study and a map to find it.  We see it and we're headed that way.

WHY are we doing this?    We see a need to improve Oak Ridge  -  we are 10 years into the 21st Century yet it seems that in many ways Oak Ridge is lagging in the middle of the 20th Century.   ORRE will not accept that -  we simply will not accept the status quo
